Changes, Changes, Changes

As many of you know, we recently relocated from Utah to California. Before I could leave Utah I had to leave my job with DCFS. This was really hard for me as I had spent 6+ years working for the State and it had basically become my life and my co-workers were my friends. (My friends hate having their pictures taken as much as I do so I will not post a photo of them, but trust me they are great girls). It was very hard to pack up my office and leave it so I was glad that Catherine, Tyler and Bekka were there to distract me.

The story of the move begins with this truck. When Tyler and I went to to Penske to pick up this truck I was in shock about how large it was. Thank goodness it was so big, because we were going to need every inch to pack in 8+ years of marital accumulation, and that was after I sold, donated and thinned down everything we have ever owed. If you know me, you know there is no way that I was driving this truck to San Diego. Since, Andy had to work, I enlisted the help of Tyler my brother in- law (to drive it home from Penske) and my Dad to drive the rest of the way. On Aug. 11, 2012, with a tear in my eye, I waved goodbye to Logan and headed South to my husband and my new life.
22Ft. of moving power

Our first stop, Cove Fort Utah, if you know me, you know how much I love Mormon Pioneer stuff ( I got this from my mom) so we had to stop there and take the tour. That poor missionary, Dad asked him so many questions about the building and the building materials, but turns out this Elder was a carpenter by trade so he could keep up with Wade and all his inquires. Very impressive. I was glad to be out of the truck, they do not make moving trucks that are especially comfortable, the seat was very bouncy.
Luckily, I do not get car sick. We stopped in Beaver Utah and stayed the night. Our dinner consisted of Burger King whoppers and french fries. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and it was pretty nice for an on the road motel. When Andy and I went apartment shopping in California in June we made it to Mesquite Nevada the first night, so I was surprised that Dad and I had to stop in Beaver. But we were so tired and it was nice to be out of the truck. Beaver was also the first fuel stop and I almost died when I saw how much Diesel fuel it takes and how much it costs to fuel a 22 ft. Penske truck. Holy Cow!!
